Sunseeker announces ambitious new plans for expansion
24th June 2019
It has been a busy few weeks or British yard Sunseeker. Following his recent appointment as CEO, Andrea Frabetti has announced details of the ambitious new development plans for the brand, and overseen the launch of the latest Sunseeker Hawk model.
At the time of Frabetti’s appointment, Sunseeker announced the formation of a strategic committee between Frabetti and the company’s CFO and COO, Mike McMillan and Michael Straughan, who together will push the brand in new directions.
The Poole based company’s focus is on this new product development plan, which will be supported by excellence in operations, an engaged workforce and a strong commercial focus to drive profitable growth, according to a company representative. It has now been revealed that this will involve doubling the Sunseeker range by 2022 to a total of 22 models. The new lines will be developed using a combination of new product segments and improved versions of existing lines. With a hugely positive response to their latest models, the brand is moving towards new product development in an aim to promote market growth, with some older models likely to be phased out as a result. A significant investment of £50 million will be injected into the company, producing a new framework for the business over the next five years.
The first project to be announced under new leadership is the new Hawk 38 model: a tribute to the company’s founder Robert Braithwaite who sadly passed away this year. The Hawk 38 is high performance day boat, and is a reflection of Braithwaite’s passion for speed and performance, with the vessel reaching 70mph with Mercury 400R engines. As the final project he worked on, it is a fitting tribute that the first ten Hawk 38s will form a special limited edition series featuring a stainless steel plaque on the helm dashboard numbered from RB001 to RB010. Features include four racing seats with shock absorbing mitigation, aft facing u-shaped seating, a triple bench seat at stern, sunpad, ample storage, and a cutting edge control system, with aesthetic details such as a leather trimmed steering wheel.
Frabetti said of the limited edition vessel: “The legacy of the Sunseeker brand is built on developing performance boats such as the Hawk 38 – it’s in our DNA and something Robert was extremely passionate about having raced extensively in his early career. I am honoured to unveil this special edition series of the Hawk 38, a very fitting tribute to our founder.”
