Viareggio Super Yachts launch 64-metre M/Y Atomic
13th June 2019
Italian superyacht builder Viareggio Super Yachts (VSY) launched their latest build, 64-metre M/Y Atomic, on 10 June 2019 to great acclaim. Launched in Livorno, Atomic is the third yacht from a partnership between VSY and renowned naval architect and designer Espen Oeino that has already seen the launch of Sealyon (ex Candyscape II) in 2009 and RoMA in 2010.
“Atomic is a real floating wonder of sophistication, which integrates advanced technical elements and top engineering solutions to further augment the simplicity and governability,” said the team at VSY, as they proudly announced the launch.
VSY, who specialise in luxury motor yachts over 60-metres, kept sustainability at the forefront of the build of Atomic with a number of environmental systems and programs introduced to reduce the vessel’s impact on the planet, or more specifically, its impact on the remote ocean environment.
A dynamic positioning system is a key feature on board, respecting the sea bed whilst the yacht is at anchor, and exhaust fumes are also purified via a special filter. Navigation under electric propulsion is possible using 4 x 200kW generators to power the thrusters instead of starting the main engine. These features allow Atomic to navigate in protected marine areas and pristine oceans in a spirit of respect, as per the owner’s wishes.
Twelve guests can be accommodated in six cabins, including the master suite which features panoramic views and both interior and exterior terraces. The large sundeck boasts a number of features including an infinity pool aft and a fire pit forward, with her ‘elegant upper class’ interior the work of French design house Darnet Design.
Atomic will now travel to Viareggio for completion and final delivery.
