Royal Huisman unveils progress shots of Project Phi

First announced in Summer 2018, 55-metre Project Phi is of the most secretive projects in the superyacht order book. In build at Dutch yard Royal Huisman this radical fast-displacement motoryacht is set to launch in 2021. Construction on Project Phi’s aluminium hull began at the yard’s Vollenhove site in mid-February 2019, with work already progressing quickly, and the yard has now released construction photos for the first time.

With a top-secret exterior design by Cor D. Rover and interior by Lawson Robb, the Royal Huisman team has revealed that this exciting design has numerous standout features including fuel-efficient hull lines based on the patented Fast-Displacement XL® concept developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Space will be maximised throughout the yacht, with fast and efficient performance credentials and the Fast-Displacement XL® hull will ensure that this radical, high-performance vessel is both comfortable and stable.

Boasting extensive outdoor deck space, Project Phi’s entire design has been designed in harmony with ‘the other Phi’ – the formula within the Golden Ratio that governs the continuation of dimensions and shapes within the natural world. Her owner and their team have worked in close collaboration with Royal Huisman and the result is sure to be nothing short of spectacular.

As the yard progress shots show, building work is progressing nicely with the hull turning set for Summer 2019. Construction time is being sped along thanks to consecutive construction on key elements alongside work on the hull.

Project Phi is a different style of project for Royal Huisman, which is more traditionally known for building and refitting sailing yachts, but one that showcases the yard’s capacity to build projects of all types and sizes.
